The state of the superyacht market, Q1 2026.

Although at the mountain top of the luxury industry, the superyacht market is by no means immune to political instability, monetary policy, geopolitical tensions and war.

Certain segments of our market have notoriously struggled in times of expensive lending or general global chaos, but 2026 currently seems to be bucking that trend, with strong sales data released from BOATPro including collective sales of EUR 817.4m banked in March; the highest month of sales so far this year.

That figure comprised of 52 transactions above 24m in length, which is not indicative of an industry slowing or a market that is tentative to moving during times of uncertainty.

However, BOAT also recorded 78 price drops. Giving evidence that buyers are still somewhat selective. Sellers are having to work to meet the market, and overpriced products aren’t going to sell because of a hot streak of interest.

Yacht buyers are there, but they are not just blindly taking asking prices.

Also, inventory is currently being replenished. There were 64 new listings compared with the 52 sales, so the supply has increased by 12 yachts – again, a good indicator for potential buyers. More yachts generally meaning more leverage for negotiation.

Ultimately the market is functioning and healthy with some disciplined demand. We now go into Q2 with limited supply in certain segments but with clients ready to pull the trigger for the right options.

For serious buyers, this is a pre-Mediterranean season window of opportunity. With a market that is clearly not euphoric, there is product to choose from and sellers which are forced to meet reality in their pricing expectations.

The best-positioned yachts will undoubtedly still trade hands, so tactical preparation matters more than ever.
